Accelerate-C2D3 launch funding call for novel applications of AI for research and innovation

Closing date: 17:00 on Friday 8 September 2023

Full details and FAQs available here.

The Accelerate Programme in collaboration with the Cambridge Centre for Data Driven Discovery (C2D3) is offering small grants for Cambridge University researchers pursuing innovative applications of AI, in research or real-world contexts. Funding can support a variety of activities, including research, events, workshops, teaching, software development, or software development, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration.

The intention of this call is to support projects across disciplines with flexible funding to start or scale interdisciplinary collaborations in the use of AI for research and innovation. The intention is to support a number of successful applications, and offer funding of up to £25,000. Applications for events and workshops will be capped at £15,000.

Full call details are available on Accelerate's website and we will be holding a funding Q and A event on Wednesday 21 June from 2 – 3pm where organisers will answer questions about the funding call and there will be an opportunity to talk to their Machine Learning Engineers about the technical aspects of your project. The session will take place in person at the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the William Gates Building with no need to register in advance.

About Us

Computational modelling is key to climate science. But models are becoming increasingly complex as we seek to understand our world in more depth and model it at higher fidelity. The Institute of Computing for Climate Science studies and supports the role of software engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and data science within climate science.

The institute comprises a collaboration between Cambridge Zero, the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (host department of the institute), Computer Science and Technology, and University Information Services at the University of Cambridge.
