Applying for a Summer School bursary
A limited number of bursaries are available for PhD students and Early Career Researchers to attend the ICCS Summer School 2026. Bursaries will be awarded on a competitive basis, subject to eligibility and availability of funds.
How to apply
- Make sure you read the information provided below
- Complete the bursary application form. We will respond by 23 March at the latest
- If you are awarded a bursary, complete the main Summer School registration form.
The deadline for the bursary form is 9 March 2026.

What is covered by the bursary?
The bursary will cover the full registration fee (which includes subsistence and accommodation for the duration of the Summer School) and up to £200 in travel costs.
Eligibility
Bursary applicants must be PhD students or Early Career Researchers who:
- are currently registered at a higher education institution in the UK or abroad
- are carrying out studies one of the following areas of research: climate science, environmental science, machine learning, computer science, data science, statistics, applied maths, or related interdisciplinary areas
- can provide a motivation statement on the benefits and impact that attending the Summer School will have on their research
- have a supporting statement from their supervisor
- are available to attend the full duration of the Summer School (13-17 July 2026).
Widening participation
Individuals from under-represented groups, eg. based on race, ethnicity, gender, disability or socio-economic background, will be especially welcome.
All information provided will be treated confidentially and used solely for the purpose of bursary allocation.
