Dr Nirav Vasant Shah

About
Nirav is a Research Software Engineer working on providing software support to researchers in climate science.
Prior to joining ICCS, he was Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Nirav obtained his PhD under ROMSOC programme during which he worked at SISSA, ITMATI and ArcelorMittal Asturias (Avilés).
In addition to his work at ICCS, Nirav is also active in these roles:
- Lead developer of DLRBniCSx, PyTorch-RBniCSx-FEniCSx based open source library for deep learning based reduced order modelling
- Lead developer of MDFEniCSx, Mesh Deformation using FEniCSx
- Early Stage Researcher under the ROMSOC Programme.
He was the co-organiser of PDESoft2024 and Excalibur-SysGenx Online Workshop – Scientific machine learning and Model order reduction for partial differential equations.

Nirav has been working in applied numerical analysis, software development and high performance computing for more than 7 years. His experience includes development of digital twins for industrial and practical applications and open-source software development.
Presently, Nirav is focusing on development of climate science models implementing parallel computing frameworks, improving software design and software sustainability.
