About
Tom is a Research Software Engineer with a background in atomic and molecular physics. He has been developing scientific code for over 10 years and is particularly interested in High Performance Computing (HPC).
He is the author and maintainer of mdb, an MPI-aware debugger for parallel codes. He is an active member and reviewer for WHPC (Women in HPC), co-chair of the Cambridge & East Anglia WHPC Chapter.
Most recently, Tom has focused on applications of generative AI within the ICCS and broader RSE community. He is designing and developing a self-hosted AI platform for researchers and scientists, exploring generative AI workflows and tooling, and developing training materials both internally and externally.
